Vampire Weekend Sophomore Album Update

Vampire WeekendIn this weeks issue of NME Vampire Weekend discussed the state of their second album. They are set to start on the next album next month. Frontman Ezra Koenig told the NME: "We're looking forward to starting, We're leaving the beginning of the year totally open, then we're going to play a couple of shows in Mexico. Hopefully by then we'll have a fully formulated idea of the album, and when we get back we can finish it". Koenig goes on to talk about how the album was influenced by their experiences at Columbia, he goes on to say "Will it be about being in a band? No, probably because it's the mundane aspects of life in a band that are with us the most." He also deals with the question of "Will the band be changing its sound?": "It's hard to imagine us making an album that didn't have strings or orchestral touches." He also talks about the possibilty of working with Peter Gabriel on the 'vibe' for the new album. Thanks to Abeano for posting the article, which you can read at the site.
