Leaked: Julian Casablancas - Phrazes For The Young

Julian Casablancas - Phrazes For The Young coverThe long awaited debut for Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas. The album takes Casablancas into experiments with electronic music and allowed him to have full control during the making. On Wednesday he announced that a deluxe edition would be available with bonus tracks, b-sides and live acoustic versions of the tracks on the album. The new album showcases Casablancas talents of making an album that at times sounds almost identical to what a new Strokes material would sound like. It does features some electronic instruments but Casablancas distinct vocals don't let it escape the Strokes' sound. The album opener 'Out of the Blue' would make you think that you are listening to new Strokes material. He does experiment with a more electronic sound like in '11th Dimension', he does in go other directions with a banjo solo in 'Ludlow St.'. The quality of the leak leaves something to be desired, it is at 96 kbps but I'm sure another has been making the rounds. On first listen it is a pretty good, it will probably be better with more listens. For just eight songs on the album it goes to about 40 minutes long, most of the songs average at about 4:30 long. Well you can buy the album here and get a downloadable copy immediately if you buy the luxury deluxe edition.
