The Open Source Awards

Packt Publishing has announced the winners of its sixth annual open source awards, and some familiar players have taken top spots. Take a look at the results and see if your favorite project won.

The Open Source Awards

Packt Publishing has been conducting its awards since 2006 to encourage and support open source development. It began by focusing exclusively on content management platforms, but was soon expanded to other categories. Since its inception, Packt has awarded over US$ 100,000. This year’s awards included six categories:

• Open Source CMS
• Open Source Mobile Toolkits and Libraries
• Most Promising Open Source Project
• Open Source Business Applications
• Open Source JavaScript Libraries
• Open Source Multimedia Software

Projects were nominated by the public starting in August. Voting began in September and concluded at the end of October.
